[How-to]What is the Community add-on, and do I need it?

Flight Deck needs a channel to talk to the MSFS avionics pages so it can press the buttons on the G1000, GTC and EFB.

  1. The first time you open the program, it automatically puts a small add-on into the MSFS Community folder.
  2. MSFS loads add-ons only at startup, so restart MSFS once after it's installed.
  3. You don't need to turn on Developer Mode in MSFS.

When MSFS updates, the program removes the old add-on automatically and rebuilds it on the next start. In the meantime, buttons go through a backup channel and keep working.

Max Flight Deck on your PC is switching to a new version. It takes about 1 minute, and the tablet comes back by itself afterwards. No refresh needed.

Still updating after 3 minutes? Check that the PC still has an internet connection. If it can't connect, the program keeps using the old version.
